Circumcision
Male circumcision is a surgical procedure in which part or all of the foreskin of the penis is removed.
Reasons for circumcision:
- Medical reasons:
Phimosis (narrowing of the foreskin)
Inflammation of the foreskin and glans - cultural and religious reasons:
People with a Muslim or Jewish background opt for ritual circumcision. - Hygienic reasons
- Sexual reasons
Circumcision is performed under local anesthesia for infants from the age of 10 days to three months or under a light general anesthesia from the age of one year.
We use both the classic and the so-called ring method. With the ring method, there is no visible stitching after circumcision.
Circumcision is only covered by statutory health insurance if there is a medical indication.
In the case of a ritual circumcision, the costs are not covered by health insurance.
A written consent from the legal guardian (parents) is required.
